A Master of Natural Realism, Brussels picturesque paintings invite the onlooker to step into the paths and relax on the beach or lounge at a breakfast nook surrounded by fragrant and plentiful flowers. Her paintings invoke serenity.

Laurie lived in Manhattan until she was 8. Her family moved to Long Beach, New York, a small beach town on Long Island, where she attended public school through high school. She spent her summers and weekends exploring the dunes, beaches and boardwalk that surrounded her. Her evenings were filled with beautiful sunsets on the water.

Her college experience was very cosmopolitan. She studied art at the famed New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). After graduation, she studied painting & drawing at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. Laurie began her career focusing on nudes using charcoal, pastel and watercolor. The New York Times reviewed her figurative drawings favorably, comparing her style as reminiscent of the masters. She soon became adept at pastel and acrylic painting as well.

She has received many awards at regional juried art shows as well as gracing the covers of various publications. Her artwork has been exhibited numerous times at Art Expo New York, the preeminent international art show, as well as other exhibits in Atlanta, Pennsylvania and New York. In 1996 she had her first One-Woman Show at Central Galleries in Cedarhurst, New York. The following year, she premiered her two favorite images as limited edition graphics. Since then, Laurie has had numerous One-Woman shows. Her artwork is sold and shown across the country. To date she has 17 published limited edition graphics.

A Master of Natural Realism, Laurie has taught all forms of art in her private studio and as an instructor in the Adult Education System in Lawrence NY. She is a member of various art organizations & has received numerous awards for her work. She lived with her parents in Long Beach until she married her husband Bob. They moved into his childhood home in Woodmere, Long Island where they lived for over 30 years. In 2002 Laurie and Bob moved to a new residence in the picturesque and serene Tucson, Arizona. They have 2 children, Gregg and Carol. Both of their children are creative. Carol is a working artist as well. Laurie and Bob enjoy weekending at quaint bed & breakfasts up and down the eastern seaboard. They have begun exploring the beauty of Europe together. We welcome her back home to Long Island and her 8th one person show here at Central Galleries.
